LINCOLN, Ill.-- Central Illinois' lack of snow may have some area farmers concerned.
Usually, the Heart of Illinois gets more snow by early January. This year, snowfall has been below average, which some think could add to the ill-effects of last summer's drought.
However, Chris Miller of Lincoln's National Weather Service says growers don't have anything to worry about just yet.
Miller says the best time to make up a drought is late winter and early spring.
"Later February and especially March and April that's when we need to start making a dent in our precipitation deficits," said Miller, "and if we can do that, when planting season rolls around then we should be alright. If we end up on the dry side there are going to be problems."
