CANTON, Ill. -- The Faculty Association at Spoon River College voted to ratify a new contract on Friday.

The 34 faculty members had been working without one since August 2012 and approved an intent to strike on January 11th.

A tentative agreement was reached earlier this week after a marathon bargaining session with administration.

Specific terms of the deal can't be released until it's approved by both sides.

Spoon River College officials say a special meeting of the Board of Trustees would likely be called to consider the contract.
