CHENOA, Ill. -- McLean County authorities are investigating the death of a man who was struck by an Amtrak passenger train.

McLean County Coroner Beth Kimmerling said Anthony Bernardini, 53, of Spring Valley was struck by a northbound train while walking home from a local Casey's near US Route 24 and Morehead in Chenoa.

Multiple rescue crews were called to the intersection shortly after 9 p.m. Friday.

Bernardini was pronounced dead at the scene. Kimmerling said alcohol may have been a contributing factor.

Both the McLean County Coroner's Office and Chenoa Police Department are continuing to investigate the incident.
