PEORIA, Ill. -- The St. Louis Blues have notified the Peoria Civic Center they plan to move the Rivermen out of Peoria after the current season.
The Blues own the AHL's Rivermen.
They had two more seasons left on their Rivermen lease with the Civic Center and will pay a $90,000 penalty to the building to opt out early.
A statement released by the Peoria Civic Center this afternoon states: "We value the relationship we have had with the Blues Organization and look forward to finishing out a successful season."
The Civic Center's General Manager Jim Wetherington says he is optimistic there will still be hockey in Peoria next year.
