PEORIA, Ill.-- One of the largest celebrations on Sunday was at Kelleher's Irish Pub.

The street outside of the bar was lined with heated tents and packed with hundreds of people.

Owner Pat Sullivan calls it "a city within the city." He keeps the celebration authentic with an Irish band, traditional Irish food and of course plenty of beer.

Sullivan says the most important thing is that people get home safely.

He said, "We have the Red Cross cups so we have designated drivers and if we see someone too bad we've got a couple cars out in the lot to take them home. So we don't want them driving... We want them back."

Sullivan says thousands usually come out to join in on the party.
