BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- State Representative Jason Barickman (R - 105th District) spent part of Thursday visiting patients of OSF Home Care Services in Bloomington.

Home care is often a more affordable option for some types of treatment but can still be out of reach for many struggling Illinois families who don't have insurance or don't qualify for assistance.

"We need our legislators behind us making those right decisions, voting on those right things, so that way we can continue caring for these patients," said Priscilla Romans of OSF Home Care Services who accompanied Barickman during the visits.

"For us in Springfield, we're dealing with the realities of a fixed amount of money that can be spent but a growing number of people that are wanting and needing services," said Barickman.

OSF Home Care provides services for about 2,000 patients.
