EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- Public works crews are getting geared up for what could be the most significant snowfall this season.
Employees at the East Peoria Public Works department spent their day filling trucks with salt and loading up supplies for the big storm.
Streets Forman Karl Mustard said crews will start pre-salting roads late Monday night, early into the morning hours.
Mustard said his best advice for drivers is just to stay home if possible.
"The biggest problem we have is people get nervous," said Mustard. "When snow comes, they want to run out and get their milk and get their bread and whatever. We really get the roads cleaned up in a fairly timely manner."
Officials ask drivers to be courteous on the roads and give snow plows extra room.
