PEORIA, Ill -- Some sporty gifts going out to a group of Trewyn School students Friday for their participation in a program.

Ten students have successfully completed a camp sponsored by Running Central and the Newton athletic company.

Friday they were given brand new running shoes for their hard work.

"We worked hard, we did a lot of stuff. Like they always say if you work hard it comes with great reward," Cody Baker said.

During the 10 week program they learned the fundamentals and discipline of running.

Running Central owner Adam White says the program also stresses the importance of physical activity.

"Addressing sedentary behaviors, giving kids an opportunity to come out and just be excited to play again," White said. "Kids just want to play and getting them excited to move is an awesome thing."

As part of the criteria for participation in the students were also required to maintain good grades and behavior.
