PEORIA, Ill -- In response to the high summer temperatures, both Mid Central Community Action and Peoria Citizens for Economic Opportunity (PCCEO) are offering a summer cooling program through Illinois Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

Funds are limited and the program is brief.  The program starts July 11 and ends July 27 or until funds are exhausted.

Eligible households are defined as seniors, persons with disabilities, families with children less than five years of age and those with medical conditions that would be aggravated by extreme heat.  These households must also meet income eligibility guidelines (at or less than 150% of the poverty level).

Residents in Peoria County who meet the requirements are encouraged to call PCCEO at 309-671-3900. Residents in McLean county should call 309-829-0691 for an appointment and residents in Livingston county should call 815-844-3201.
