Susan G. Komen announces Promise Run and Relay

PEORIA, Ill. -- Susan G. Komen has become a household name in the field of Breast Cancer Research. Now, the local affiliate is encouraging people to walk in her steps and while carrying on the promise.

Wednesday, the Komen Peoria Affiliate announced their latest national event: The Promise Run and Relay.

Officials say the local Race for the Cure events attract thousands to the area every year, they hope build on that same enthusiasm.

"It is also a great chance to bring people from all throughout the midwest and the entire country to Susie's hometown, the home of the promise. So when folks sign up and register for the Promise Run and Relay, those dollars will stay here in this community," Komen Marketing and Developing Director Gina Morss-Fischer said.

The 13.1 mile race includes a two-person relay, which exchanges near SUSAN'S RESTING PLACE in parkview cemetary.

The Promise Run and Relay will take place October 20th.
