MORTON, Ill. – The Tazewell county coroner has identified the man whose body was discovered in a car at a motel parking lot Friday afternoon.

The coroner said the victim, Fredrick George III of Peoria, had been in the vehicle for several hours.

Morton Police responded to a report of a body found in the parking lot of the Travelodge, 101 E Ashland St., around noon Friday.

Police found George, 44, on the passenger side of a brown sedan outside the Travelodge in Morton.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said there were no signs of trauma, and they are waiting on toxicology results.

Morton Police Chief Craig Hilliard said Monday that the coroner's initial findings point to George dying of natural causes.

However, Hilliard said that the investigation is ongoing.
