EAST PEORIA, Ill -- A suspicious package delivered to a church in East Peoria Monday afternoon prompted a visit from the Peoria Police bomb squad.

Officials at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses called police just after 3:00 p.m. Monday when a courier dropped off a suspicious manila envelope.

When an officer responded he brought the envelope outside and called the bomb squad to further investigate. A robot carried the package away from the building, an x-ray revealed there was nothing hazardous inside.

Sargent Ball with the East Peoria Police talked with church officials and said, "they were at ease with the outcome."

No further information has been given at this time. Police are continuing to investigate.
