PEORIA, Ill. -- Officials at Peoria's Taft Homes are looking to the future, after a successful family friendly Fourth of July celebration.
On Thursday, PHA officials and Taft Home residents gathered together for an Independence Day cookout.
Peoria Police patrolling the complex even joined in on some of the fun.
This year's focus on family fun was a big change from the past two Fourth of July celebrations, which both ended in criminal incidents.
PHA officials said they conducted a survey into what Taft residents need.
They are inviting the Peoria community to a Taft Homes Planning Process meeting to hear the results.
"We're asking the community to come out and hear about how we plan to proceed with this process and certainly how we want to engage in community feedback," said Peoria Housing Authority CEO Brenda Coates.
The planning process meeting is Monday, July 8 at 5 p.m. at the Gateway Building in Downtown Peoria.
