EAST PEORIA Ill -- East Peoria's Levee District added a new business to its list this week, and there are still many more to come.

Target in East Peoria cut the ribbon off its brand new location, giving shoppers an early preview of the store.

The opening comes shortly after Costco's completion last year.

City officials say this is only the start of growth in The Levee District.

Soon, East Peoria can add Gordman's, Ulta Beauty and Red Robin to their list of businesses popping up in the area.

City officials and residents say they are excited for what the growing district has to offer.

"We really hope that people take pride, and our citizens are already expressing great pride in this entire development that we have," said East Peoria Mayor, Dave Mingus. "We're hopeful that we can attract businesses and citizens who really want to be part of the East Peoria community."

"I'm very excited to have it here," said Kim Bruce. "I used to spend a lot of time shopping at Wal Mart and Kohls, and now I'll have a variety of places I can go without even leaving town."

The official grand opening for East Peoria's Target is Sunday, March 10th.

Gordmans and Ulta Beauty will be opening within the two weeks following.
