PEORIA, Ill -- After last year's July 4th problems at Taft Homes, the Peoria Police are doing what they can to keep fireworks from getting out of hand.

Twenty-two uniformed and plain clothes Task Force officers patrolled Taft Homes Wednesday night.

As of that afternoon the Task Force made a few arrests for trespassing and alcohol consumption.

Police say there are no signs of the illegal fireworks that injured fire fighters in 2011.

"Letters were sent to the residents laying out the expectations and what would be tolerated," says Lieutenant Mike Eddlemon. "We just want to make sure everyone is on the same page so everyone is safe and can celebrate without any problems."

Peoria Police set up a lane barricade along Taft earlier in the day to keep trespassers and potential dangers off the property.
