PEORIA, Ill. -- Representatives from Peoria, Chillicothe and Morton were among the two dozen who participated in the "Rein in the IRS" event on Tuesday afternoon.

The local Tea Party members were protesting outside of the IRS building in Peoria.

Organizers say it is important for Tea Party members to make the public aware of wrongdoing at the Internal Revenue Service.

Protester Dave Hirtz says he believes this is only the beginning.

" I guarantee this IRS situation is going to go on for years, because that committee is going to get to the bottom of this, because there is no doubt in my mind, that was jail-time illegal stuff that was going on," he said.

"Rein in the IRS" events took place nationwide on Tuesday and were organized by the "Tea Party Patriots".
