PEORIA, Ill. -- Several teams camped out around the track at the Peoria Stadium Friday, for Relay for Life.
Members of each team took turns walking around the track for the duration of the event.
Food, games and activities provided entertainment and fundraising opportunities for both cancer survivors, and those who have been affected by cancer.
The event opened with a torch lighting, and ceremonial lap around the track. People of all ages came out to support the fight against cancer.
Team HGS has raised almost $3,000 and they brought something unique and special to the event this year.
The entire team surprised the crowd with a flash mob.
"That is the joy part, because you have to have joy to carry you through all of this and HGS wants to bring that to the crowd, and that's what we're here for," said Glenna Edwards, team lead at HGS.
