PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria police are investigating a rash of property damage over the last week and said a group of teenagers may be to blame.

Police said what started as vandalizing mailboxes turned into damaging vehicles.

Reports dating back to February 9, describe suspects using bats to smash car windows, mirrors, and lights.

The incidents started in the 4100 block of Columbus and spread across a wide radius around Peoria and West Peoria.

A neighbor we talked to said she does not believe the suspects were out to get anyone.

Peoria County authorities did take one suspect into custody this weekend, a 16-year-old, and are looking to question three more teens while the investigation continues.

No injuries were reported.
