MORTON, Ill. -- The driver of a pickup truck that crashed into a house in Morton Thursday night has been cited for drinking and driving.

Authorities were called to the scene on Fox Creek Court around 10:30 Thursday Night . When they arrived, they found the truck had crashed through the home, and ended up in the basement.

The driver, who was trapped inside the car, was rescued and taken to the hospital.

Four people were inside the home at the time. Authorities say two older women suffered minor injuries.

Police are unsure why the truck went off the road.

"I've seen cars into houses, but not to the extent it actually went down into the basement. It's pretty surprising. Our main concern is for the occupants inside the house, and the occupant in the vehicle for their safety to make sure they are ok, because to go through the house like that, we thought it might be pretty serious injuries, but he was conscious. Hopefully he'll be alright, but i can't say," said Sgt. Darren Hoefling of the Morton Police Department.

Crews got the truck out of the basement Friday afternoon.
