PEORIA, Ill. -- A string of severe thunderstorms caused damage across much of Central Illinois.
A downed tree narrowly missed a home on Columbia Terrace. Heavy machinery was needed to move the debris and limbs from the yard, which crushed a fence.
Nearby on Glenwood, a 12-inch tree limb was uprooted, taking a power line with it as it fell. It blocked the roadway, forcing traffic to find another route. Trees tumbled at Bradley University as well, one falling on a car.
No injuries have been reported.
At one point, Ameren Illinois reported more than 2,600 customers without power in Peoria County.
That number is now less than 2,300.
