EAST PEORIA, Ill.-- Hundreds of train lovers made a stop in the Heart of Illinois on Sunday.

The Peoria Train Fair featured thousands of model trains, layouts and anything collectors need when it comes to building up their hobby.

Attendees could swap different parts, buy new ones, or just browse the collections from more than 40 vendors across Illinois.

Event organizer Ronald Brown says the fair has been running for more 30 years and is on track to continue growing.

Brown said, “We started off with like 5 or 6 guys and we'd all get together and trade each other whatever we had. But now it's more about purchasing new items."

The event was put on by the Illinois Valley Model Railroad club and Pekin's River City Model Railroad Club.

The next train show will take place on November 17th.
