August 17, 2013 Updated Aug 17, 2013 at 8:54 PM CDT

NORMAL, Ill. -- Amtrak service for five Lincoln Service and Texas Eagle trains will be interrupted, as crews begin a new round of high speed rail work.

Now through August 23rd, the northbound Texas Eagle will not stop in the town of Normal, and will be detoured between Chicago and Saint Louis.

Two of the Lincoln Service trains will be moved to a bus route while two other daily trains will be moved to a bus train option.

The rail work is part of a track upgrade designed to allow trains to travel up to 110 miles per hour.
