Road construction statewide could see a bump in funding, compliments of your wallet.

The Transportation for Illinois Coalition unveiled a proposal on Tuesday to raise the gas tax by four cents.

That, they say, would bring in nearly $2 billion a year.

The money will be used for work on roads, bridges, railways and airports.

The state gas tax hasn't been increased since 1990.
