PEORIA, Ill. -- The 2012 Salvation Army Tree of Lights campaign is officially over.
Friday night, Salvation Army officials announced they raised a record $1,602,012. That is just $68,000 short of their $1.67 million goal.
"It was an aggressive, they call it a goal, but it's aggressive needs. It's what the army needs to do their programs. It's a little short, but the Army always makes due with what they have," said Honorary Campaign Co-Chair Penny Kunkle.
The money raised will stay in the tri-county area to support Salvation Army programs and services including the homeless shelter and feeding programs, child care, and coats for kids.
You can donate to the Salvation Army year-round by heading to www.saheartland.org or by calling (309) 655-7220.
