PEORIA Ill -- Before the big parade, runners took their mark, to raise money for area children.

It was part of the Trot for Tots fun run to support the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.

One of the honorary race starters was Kathy Bastean, who lost her son, Lance Corporal Jordan Bastean last year.

She was joined by sisters, Kylah and Kyrie Bright, who will be directly impacted by the fund raiser.

All the money collected will be used locally to purchase toys for them and other local needy children.

"This is my second year doing Trot for Tots. I'm Ex-Army so anything I can do to help out the Marines or any other branch of service for a great cause. It's a great thing to do," said runner, Jim Cochran.

In past years, the Trot for Tots has raised more than $60,000 for the Toys for Tots program.
