CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- The Central Illinois Regional Airport will be able to afford some new equipment thanks to federal funding.

On Friday, U.S. Senator Dick Durbin and Congresswoman Cheri Bustos announced that the airport was being given over $600,000.

That money will be used to buy friction measuring equipment and snow removal equipment.

But CIRA wasn't the only airport to gain some extra cash.

The General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport also got nearly $1 million from the Department of Transportation.

That money will be used to expand the airport's apron.
