WASBURN - In rural Marshall County, two young men have drowned in a pond near Washburn.

The Marshall County Coroner says little information will be released this evening, but the men were employees of a contractor who was doing work in Marshall County.

The double drowning occurred about two miles west of Washburn, where the men had been working.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Department said they were called to the scene about 4:30 Monday afternoon by the contractor who could not locate the two employees.

Their bodies were recovered about eight Monday evening by members of a dive team from Hudson, Illinois.

Their identities should be released Tuesday after notification of their families.

They are not believed to be Central Illinois natives.

The incident remains under investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff's Office.
