PEORIA, Ill. -- One man is in custody and another is out on bail after an investigation on the city's south side Friday ended with suspects shooting at police.

Authorities say 18-year-old Tony Harris turned himself in Sunday afternoon. He is charged with attempted murder.

Seventeen-year-old Auston Wood was arrested Saturday and later released on bail. He faces charges of unlawful use of weapons and obstructing police.

The arrests are linked back to an incident that police say occurred just before 10 p.m. Friday.

That's when authorities were called to the corner of Arago and Starr Streets in Peoria for an unknown reason.

According to a news release, officers were questioning one subject, Wood, when he fled on foot. Officers soon lost sight of him.

When they returned to the area, authorities say a second suspect, Harris, pointed a handgun at police and shot at them. He then fled the area.

Harris is due in court Monday at 3 p.m. Wood is due in court on September 19.
