Two teens indicted for alleged role in shooting

PEORIA, Ill. -- Two Peoria teens accused of shooting two other teens in October were indicted on Tuesday.

Robert Sanders, 16, allegedly shot a 14-year-old boy near the intersection of Grinnell and Folkers on October 17 after asking him if he was was a member of the "Bomb Squad" street gang. Sanders was indicted on one charge of Aggravated Battery.

Deontay Griffin, 15, is accused of shooting both the initial victim and a second teen, 15, for being a witness. Griffin was indicted on two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, three counts of Aggravated Battery and one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

Sanders and Griffin are both being held at the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center on $1.5 million bond.

They are both scheduled to be arraigned on December 5.
