SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The University of Illinois Board of Trustees has dismissed a tenured professor following allegations of misconduct.

The Board voted Thursday to remove engineering professor Louis Wozniak’s tenure and terminate his employment following allegations that he violated the privacy rights of students and repeatedly ignored warnings to cease his conduct.

The termination is effective immediately.

Wozniak is the first tenured University of Illinois professor to be fired by the board of trustees.

He is a graduate of the Champaign-Urbana campus and had been a faculty member since 1967.
