Vacant house fire being investigated as an arson

PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria Police say that a vacant house fire that occurred at 911 E. Behrends on Sunday night is being investigated as an arson.

Firefighters arrived at the scene at 7:23 pm and were able to control the fire within five minutes.

The fire investigator found that the fire had originated from trash that was lit on fire in the middle of the living room. The blaze is being investigated as an arson.

The fire caused an estimated $5000 in damage. There were no injuries.
