FULTON COUNTY, Ill. -- According to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, 61-year-old Earnest Saville was driving on County Highway 13, when his vehicle struck a train one mile north of Vermont township.

Sheriff's deputies were called to the scene around 10:30 p.m. Friday night.

They say Saville was driving a 2006 Chevrolet truck and failed to stop at the flashing railroad crossing signals.

Authorities said his truck crashed into the side of a Burlington Northern Coal Train.

Saville was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, where he remains in fair condition.

The Table Grove resident faces multiple charges, including driving with a revoked license, driving under the influence of alcohol, and possession of firearm ammunition without a FOID card.
