PEORIA Ill -- The Illinois River is still causing headaches for some.

Peoria Police responded to a report of a jeep floating in the Illinois River shortly after 3:00 am Saturday.

Officers located fresh tracks of a vehicle that apparently ran off State Street downtown and into the river.

Police say they were unable to deploy a river rescue team due to the strong water current.

Coast Guard and conservation crews also responded to the incident.

Police say no one was believed to have been in the car.

The incident is still under investigation.
