PEORIA, Ill. -- A veterans' rights advocacy group is taking its mission to the ballpark.
On Friday, the Disabled American Veterans or DAV parked its mobile office outside of Dozer Park in Peoria.
The organization provides free job search assistance and counseling on veteran benefit claims.
"Its important that veterans understand that there is a faster way to get their claims done. That they can, if they have all their evidence, no pending claims or appeals, they can get their claims done in 30 to 90 days," said National Service Officer John Rodriguez.
Officer Rodriguez said the biggest challenge is the backlog of benefits claims.
According to the organization's website so far more than 300,00 claims have been filed this year alone.
