HENRY, Ill. -- Illinois State Police say the shooting deaths of two people early Friday morning were the result of a murder-suicide.

Police responded to 1022 W. Warren Street just before 2 a.m. Friday after a neighbor reported seeing a man with a gun outside the home.

When officers arrived they found Melissa Rice, 42, dead inside the house. James “Billy” Doerr Jr., 46, was alive when officers arrived but died before he could be life-flighted to OSF St. Francis. Both victims died of gunshot wounds.

Police said Rice and Doerr had previously dated but their relationship ended before the shooting.

An investigation is ongoing but police are not looking for any suspects at this time.
