PEORIA, Ill -- While questions continued to swirl about the future of the Peoria Stadium, local residents used their feet to stress the importance of the area to the community.
The Moonlight Coalition for Adult Learning put on the Peoria Stadium Walk Friday night to stress the importance of recreational facilities in the Peoria area.
The group was expecting hundreds of walkers to make it to the event, but only about a dozen walkers made it out, possibly due to the rainy weather.
The walkers traveled one mile around the trail of the park, showing support for the stadium and recreation as a whole.
"We really like to preserve our recreational opportunities in Peoria," said Moonlight Coalition Coordinator Hedy Elliot-Gardner. "If we don't have them, then we try to provide them. We create that experience but we have a great place here at Stadium Park, and we want to support that."
While the walk was free, donations were accepted for the Moonlight Coalition for Adult Learning, which provides easy access for adults to get their GED.
