PEORIA, Ill. -- Bicycling, outdoor home improvements, and tennis are activities typically reserved for summer or spring in the Midwest but this year, people are taking advantage of the warm weather in December.
"It is gorgeous out. It's December and it's gorgeous," said Kip Perhay.
Kip Perhay is part of the Ki Alpha Christian Fellowship. He and a few volunteers are taking advantage of some outdoor painting and siding on the fellowship home at a time of year when people are more likely to be installing storm windows.
"As the weather gets colder, things are going to change. I mean we're replacing a window right now, which we wouldn't do," said Perhay.
With temperatures in the upper 60s, what would typically be a blistery Sunday afternoon, felt more like a dog day afternoon.
Even man's best friend enjoyed the uncharacteristically high temperatures.
Candace Quinn said it was a fetching day to spend with her dog Myrtle, however she hopes it won't last too long.
"Right around the 20th, right in time for a nice Christmas, it would be nice to have a white Christmas, and that's about it," said Quinn.
While some are dreaming of a white Christmas, photographer Elizabeth Marter is holding off on the thought of snow for as long as possible.
"It's pretty for pictures, but I'm not much of a cold person. If we could have snow without the cold, I would be perfectly fine," said Marter.
It seems everyone has a dream of their own.
