EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- After postponing for two weeks, Washington High School students were finally able to hit the stage tonight with "Shrek the Musical."

The students of Washington high had been preparing for this night since the beginning of September, but they were set back after the November 17th tornado.

The musical had to be moved from Five points because of scheduling issues leaving them with no place to perform.

ICC offered their stage to the students at no cost and donations helped pay for an extension on their rental costumes.

Students lost dance shoes and scripts..but not their desire to perform.

"After the tornado the kids were texting me, Mrs. Stout, I'm fine, we lost our home, where are we doing the show?. We had to do it. We had to do the show for the kids. They worked really hard and after everything, they really need this," Director of the show, Lisa Stout.

The musical was sold out Friday, but there are still tickets left for Saturday's show at 7 p-m.

Tickets are ten dollars and can be purchased through the ICC performing arts center.
