EAST PEORIA, Ill -- It was a reunion Thursday with an item, that will now be treasured forever.

Three people from the Chicago area came to an East Peoria hotel Thursday to return a school ID to Washington resident Madison Adams.

Madie and her family lost almost everything when the tornado leveled their house.

Madie said her ID was in her nightstand and somehow in the tornado it traveled nearly 150 miles away to the Amtrak yard in Chicago.

"Tom looked down in between the tracks and just said what is that and picked up the ID and it was Madison's from Washington, Illinois." said an emotional Eva Savickas, who made the trip to return the ID.

"I want to show everyone that this ID traveled to Chicago, in the tornado, it's fine, just a couple scratches," said Madie Adams.

The families were connected through a facebook group called 'Found items from the Washington Illinois and Diamond Illinois tornadoes'.
