WASHINGTON, Ill. -- Some Washington businesses hit hardest by the tornado are starting to open their doors.

Advanced Auto Parts in Washington had its grand opening Friday. The event kicked off with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The building was destroyed by the tornado. After months of rebuilding, it finally restocked and opened its doors.

Just across the street, the Hillcrest Golf Center, is making its way to full recovery. The main building and many parts of the course were severely damaged or destroyed. For months, workers and hundreds of volunteers have been helping to clean and rebuild the damaged site.

The course is expected to re-open June 1, 2014.
