WASHINGTON, Ill. -- High school football fans in Washington are preparing for their team's biggest game of the year.

The Panthers play host to Normal-U. High on Saturday in the IHSA class 5A quarterfinals.

According to Washington's athletic director as many as 5,000 fans are expected to turn out, some arriving when the gates open to tailgate.

And it won't just be that grandstand that will be packed.

"Getting the press box ready to have enough room. We have three radio stations coming in and another one called today," said Washington athletic director Herb Knoblauch. "We run out of room up there with the press and everything like that and our maintenance crew here at Washington did a great job with the field."

Kickoff in Washington on Saturday is at 2 o'clock. Gates open at noon.
