PEORIA, Ill -- Police are investigating an incident that occurred at the intersection of W. War Memorial Dr. and N. New York Ave. on Friday at approximately 4:15 pm.
The 19-year-old victim told authorities that she was driving to Northwoods Mall for work when a car stalled out in front of her. She said she was unable to advance in traffic. She said the vehicle behind her started honking and yelling at her.
When traffic started moving again, the victim said the vehicle behind her continued to act erratically, trying to cut her off. When she stopped at the light at the above intersection, she said the vehicle pulled up beside her and an older white male pointed a semi-automatic handgun at her. The suspect drove away when the light turned green.
The victim was able to get a license plate number from the dark green truck and police have a potential suspect. However, a warrant has not been issued for his arrest as it is unsure if the driver of the vehicle at the time of the incident is the one whose name in attached to that license plate.
