NORMAL, Ill --- If there is a power outage for any reason... Heartland Community College in Normal will still be able to keep the air conditioners running.
The wind turbine being installed during the last three months is now operational.
The really good news is it is going to save the community college a lot of money.
A spokesman for the school says it is estimated the turbine will generate about half the electricity the college uses annually.
That's an estimated savings of 320-thousand dollars.
It is also possible that the turbine will at times create additional electricity and serve portions of northwest Normal.
