PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. -- Strong winds spread a brush fire across five acres in Peoria County on Monday afternoon.

Limestone and Logan-Trivoli firefighters responded at 1 p.m. to an out of control fire in a field near Route 116 and Taylor Road.

When they got there the fire had reached the road.

Limestone Fire Captain Anthony Heskett said workers were clearing the field of trees and brush by burning it in the back. He said the winds picked up and spread the fire quickly.

It took two hours to put it out.

Heskett said fire departments have responded to a lot brush fires.
