BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- A Chicago-based company is considering building a new warehouse and distribution center here in Central Illinois.
According to Pantagraph, Wirtz Beverages has expressed interest in building on Bloomington's west side and is looking for tax abatements from local governing bodies.
The first on that list: the McLean County Board.
Board Chairman Matt Sorensen says the tax abatement will be discussed at the board's Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday.
Sorensen compared the proposal to the deal made last year for the Bloomington-Normal Bridgestone Tire Plant.
Under that proposal, property taxes on the Bridgestone facility were frozen for five years.
If approved, the Wirtz facility would bring an estimated 100 jobs to the area.
