FARMINGTON, Ill. -- A car crash near Farmington this morning, leaves one woman in the hospital.
30-year-old Julia Oldsfield-Smith was heading westbound on 116, just two miles outside of Farmington, when she crossed the center line and hit a semi.
The semi driver, 31-year-old Clayton Ross says he did not have enough room on the shoulder to move over and avoid the car.
Oldsfield-Smith was trapped in her vehicle and had to be freed before being life flighted.
Authorities believe she might have fallen asleep at the wheel since Oldfield-Smith does not know what happened and she works third shift.
There was no evidence of drug or alcohol use, but she was ticketed for improper lane usage.
Oldsfield-Smith remains at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in fair condition.
