PEORIA, Ill. -- Right across from the Methodist College of Nursing and inside the Glendale Plaza Medical Arts Building is Nick's Deli.

The nearly 25-year-old eatery prides itself on serving up cold-cut sandwiches.

"It's kind of like a hidden gem sort of, not a lot of people have heard about it, but those that do really like it," said Sami Sarraf, manager.

Why, you ask?

Well, co-owner Nick Sarraf is up at 5:30 every morning to bake sweet bread from scratch.

When we asked Nick for the recipe, he just shook his head no.

His son Sami told us the bread is filled with lots of love and that's all that matters.

Whatever the ingredients, the bread sure is working.

Students and staff from the college and hospital stop in often for a fast meal that fits their busy schedules.

"You can't just bring food with you all the time especially when you're there all day," said nursing student Amanda Trueblood. "I get a five-inch ham and provolone, heated up, they know my regular."

Chad and I both ordered the club sub. It's made of ham, turkey, provolone, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo.

His was a 16-inch. Mine was half that at eight-inches.

I enjoyed my meal even more because my soap, the Young and Restless was on. Chad watched a little bit too.

For the sweet tooth, a chocolate chip cookie for me and blueberry muffin for Chad. We hear the baklava is good too.

Our bill with drinks came to $20.84.
