HANNA CITY, Ill. -- One restaurant in Hanna City is nearing two decades of serving up home-style meals to the community.
The name of it may appeal to the local farmers.
News 25's Chad Weber heads there for this weeks "You Gotta Eat".
Located right off Route 116 in Hanna City, the Hog Trof has been dishing out homemade style meals for 18 years.
With its motto "where you can eat like a pig," I felt right at home.
"On the weekends it's a lot of families," said owner Julie Heubi. "During the week it's a lot of workers, a lot of retired farmers. They come in starting at 5:30 p.m. get their breakfast and start their day."
"Love their breakfast. They have great hash browns, American Fries. I have that a lot," said Jerry Wyatt who has been coming to the Hog Trof for 10 years. "It's more like home cooking."
Partly responsible for that home-style cooking is owner Julie Heubi's mother Peg Callahan in the kitchen.
"We cook everything from start to finish," she said.
Callahan came on board 10 years ago, after retiring from her own restaurant, The Coffee House.
The most popular items on the menu are the breakfast options.
Half the menu, in fact, is devoted to the most important meal of the day.
Also a popular choice at the Trof are the tenderloins.
But for some reason I felt a certain obligation to order barbecue at a restaurant with the word Hog in the name.
So I went with the special of the day, BBQ Pork Loin. It comes with cheesy potatoes, green beans and a roll.
And as I dug in, like a pig, it tasted just like mom's home cooking.
For desert I tried the best bread pudding I've ever had.
My bill came to $11.10 plus tip.
The Hog Trof is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. seven days a week.
And I would be amiss if I didn't take a moment to show the hundreds of pieces of hog memorabilia covering the walls.
