PEORIA, Ill. -- WEEK Sports Director Lee Hall and reporter Marshanna Hester decided to have a sports-themed lunch at WeaverRidge Golf Club.

It was a little chilly for golf, but lunch season goes year-round in the Club's restaurant.

You can enjoy lunch and the scenic view, while dreaming of next spring's birdies and pars.

"We still get people calling and asking if you have to be a member, do we have to dress up," said Matt Weaver, with WeaverRidge Golf Club. "I just tell people as long as you've got clothes on you're welcome."

Since Marshanna got stuck with the sports guy, she decided the two of them should sport gear from their favorite teams.

The Kansas Jayhawks for Marshanna and the St. Louis Cardinals for Mr. Hall.

"Kansas," said Lee. "Oh yeah, I remember them. The team that lost to Bradley in the NCAA tournament."

Marshanna responded with, "two words for you, Lee. Red Sox."

"Ouch, point taken," he said.

The lead-off hitter in Lee's lunch line-up is corn chowder, which is smooth as Carlos Beltran's swing.

It's creamy and piping hot. A perfect way to soothe one's World Series wounds.

And, he ate one the menu's homemade soups in front of Marshanna.

But, she passed on the appetizers and salad, and dove right into the fish tacos.

The lightly seasoned grouper with the toppings is a veteran favorite.

The addition of waffle fries make it a powerful combo, too much for a Cards rookie to stomach.

Lee went with the chicken quesadillas, just a half order to accompany the soup was plenty.

He threw them a curve ball by asking for bacon, and they hit it out of the park.

It's a crispy, cheesy and chicken treat, folded, just like KU at tournament time.

"This is the best quesadilla in the city of Peoria," said customer Brenda Conroy. "I'm serious. There is no other quesadilla this good."

"This Italian grilled shrimp salad," said customer Sandra Adkins. "Its very, very good."

What's also good is the dessert.

It's the one thing the two sports fans agreed upon and shared the fresh baked cookie sundae.

The total came to $31.92 plus tip.
