EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- There was quite the sight to see in East Peoria Friday night as the Walking Dead took to the streets.

Approximately 125 zombies of all ages staggered through the city, in the first East Peoria Youth Council Zombie Apocalypse.

Organizers say the event is a fun and safe way to bring community members together.

The walk ended at the East Peoria Firehouse, where each zombie feasted on a free brain... I mean, slice of pizza.

The head zombies in charge urge residents to beware as the walking dead may return next year.
